DanielBase (“DanielBase,” “we,” “our”) operates https://danielbase.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit or use the Site. By accessing the Site, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

  • Account data – username, email address, password (hashed), and any profile details you choose to add.
  • Optional profile photo – if you upload one, we re-orient and center-crop it, resize it to 512 by 512 pixels, remove embedded metadata, and store only the resulting JPEG.
  • User-generated content – comments, photos, set-list edits, forum posts.
  • Support requests – information you send us when you contact support.

Profile photos are stored as public image objects with randomized addresses. DanielBase places the address only on authenticated pages for you and eligible, non-blocked people shown in Friends features, including friend requests and username search results. Anyone who has the exact address can access, cache, or copy the image without logging in, including after friendship changes.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you browse the Site we and our analytics provider (Google Analytics 4) automatically collect:

  • IP address (truncated/anonymized)
  • Device and browser type
  • Pages viewed and referring URL
  • Approximate location (city level)
  • Date/time stamps and session duration
  • Events such as clicks and scroll depth

This data is stored in aggregated form and is not combined with your account details unless you are logged in.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use first-party cookies to maintain your login session and remember site preferences. Third-party cookies from Google Analytics help us measure traffic and performance. EU and UK visitors see a consent banner on first visit; analytics cookies are dropped only after affirmative consent.

You can control cookies via your browser settings or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

7. Data Retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months, then automatically deleted. We may keep minimal backup copies for disaster-recovery or legal reasons. You can delete your current profile photo in Settings. DanielBase then stops presenting it and schedules the public object for removal; copies already cached or saved by others are outside our control.

8. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures—TLS encryption, least-privilege access controls, regular backups—to safeguard data. No system is 100 % secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Privacy Rights

9.1 EEA / UK Users

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9.2 California Residents

Under CCPA/CPRA you can request to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold about you. Submit a verifiable request via the contact methods in Section 13. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by CCPA.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed and stored in the U.S. For EU and UK transfers we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and, if changes are material, notify registered users by email. Continued use after the “Effective date” means you accept the revised Policy.
